After finishing his Masters in General Surgery from Grant College, Mumbai, Dr. Aashish R Shah went on to complete the Diplomate of National Board from NBE, New Delhi in 1994. He was then awarded FRCS by RCPS, Glasgow, after successfully completing his training in Laparoscopic and Gastrointestinal surgery, followed by training in Advanced Laparoscopic Training at the European Institute of Tele- Surgery (EITS), Strasbourg, France - one of the premier Laparoscopic training institutes in the world. He had also undergone an intensive training in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at the National University Hospital, Singapore.
He is also a faculty at FNB (Fellowship of National Board) in Minimal Access Surgery at Fortis Hospital. He has been imparting various courses as a laparoscopy trainer in the local laparoscopy surgical training programme.
Dr. Aashish R Shah is an acknowledged expert in the field of Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) and has pioneered the surgical technique at Fortis Hospitals, Bangalore. He has expertise in novel SILS technique in Bariatric surgeries for Obesity. He is the Director of Minimal Access and Bariatric/Metabolic Surgery at Fortis Hospital, Bangalore. He has a special interest in Laparoscopic Surgeries for GastroIntestinal Cancers and is an expert at Laparoscopic Colorectal and Gastric Cancer operations. He is an acknowledged expert at Laparoscopic Fundoplication for GERD. He is also a Visiting Expert Laparoscopic Surgeon to Hospitals in Baghdad, Iraq and Kampala, Uganda.
