Dr.Baskar did his MBBS from Thanjavur Medical College, Thanjavur. He then did his M.D. in General Medicine from the same College in the year 1988. Then he worked for 2 years as Lecturer in Medicine in Raja Muthaiah Medical College in Annamalai University. Then he joined Tamilnadu Medical Service as Assistant Surgeon in the year 1991. He did his DM (Neurology) in the famous Institute of Neurology in Madras Medical College, Chennai. He Joined as Consultant in the Department of Neurology in Kovai Medical Center in the year 1992. His special areas of interest is in the field of Acute Brain Stroke Management, Thrombolytic Therapy, Chronic Headache, Botox Therapy for Focal Dystonia and Epilepsy.
