After completing a Clinical Fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at SUNY (State University of New York), Buffalo (USA) in 2009, Dr. Shehzad began practicing in Florida. Whilst at UB (University of Buffalo), he served as Faculty in their School of Medicine. SevenHills has welcomed him back home in 2014 to head the Diabetes-Endocrine Centre of Excellence. A 2001 Mumbai University MBBS graduate, Dr. Shehzad completed an Internal Medicine residency from CPS (College of Physicians & Surgeons of) Bombay and a Diploma in Diabetology from Seth GS Medical College & KEM Hospital (through University of Mumbai), which is one of India’s (& indeed, Asia’s) finest teaching hospitals & academic institutions. The university program entailed training in the department of Endocrinology. Following this, he practiced as a Consultant Diabetologist/Bariatric & Cardio-Metabolic Physician in Mumbai for some time until he was conferred with the prestigious IDF (International Diabetes Federation) Award for a visiting Fellowship in US, as India’s first and only IDF Fellow. Thereafter, at the outset of his clinical fellowship he was bestowed with the coveted Lilly Endocrine Scholars award by the esteemed Endocrine Society at the annual ENDO meeting (Toronto, June 2007), granted annually to only 1 fellow nationwide across America. For the last several years, he has been on the selection panel for reviewing applications for the same award for future endocrine fellows in USA. During his post doctoral training, Dr. Shehzad was further honored with the Resident Professionalism Award, from over 700 resident physicians at UB, followed by a top departmental rank in the national endocrine exam towards the end of his formal training. In 2013, he was recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (F.A.C.E.) at a special convocation ceremony during the annual AACE meeting.Dr. Shehzad has over 12 years of postgraduate experience. He is a well-rounded individual with excellent academic and co-curricular credentials, including sports, journalism, public speaking (multi-lingual), community service and leadership.Dr. Shehzad is well published, and serves as a peer reviewer for an indexed endocrine journal. He is certified in bone densitometry, neck ultrasound & thyroid biopsies, intensive insulin & pump therapy and laboratory directorship. Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals has contracted him for their Speaker Bureau as Endocrine faculty to disseminate clinical knowledge of their diabetes portfolio to other health care providers across USA in 2013/2014.Always charged about his work, Dr. Shehzad is a dynamic endocrinologist committed to evidence based medicine.
